Sue is an
experienced human resources and training professional and as a
contract consultant working out of Calgary, Alberta provides
expertise in program facilitation and training and development of
leading edge human resources materials.

Sue has spent considerable time working with unionized business
units and understands and respects the role of union and
management. Sue has also conducted extensive
human resources and
training audits using the process as an opportunity to coach
and develop supervisors and managers on key practices. Sue’s
understanding of the full spectrum of human resource development
has resulted in reduced employer risk and insurance premiums and
heightened recognition as a fair and ethical employer.
Background
Sue’s professional background includes human resource development
experience in England and Ireland and 17 years with Royal Host
Hotels and Resorts based in Calgary, Alberta. Currently holding the
Certified Hotel Administrator Designation (CHA), Sue’s career in
the world of hospitality started with her decision to complete
the Higher National Diploma in Hotel and Catering Management
followed by selection for participation in the intensive 12
month management training program offered by Trusthouse Forte
Hotels. Subsequent positions over a 14 year period with
Trusthouse Forte resulted in specialization in human resource
development together with attainment of the TS4 Instructor
Training qualification and the opportunity to write/deliver Head
of Department Development Programs at the Forte Management
Training Center for International Management and Staff (the
Academy). Immediately prior to moving to Canada Sue held the
position of Area Personnel and Training Manager for Trusthouse
Forte Hotels in Ireland.
As Royal Host’s Executive Vice President of Human Resource
Development and a qualified instructor trainer, Sue created over 20
Standards and Procedures manuals capturing the essence of the hotel
industry and created the Extra Special People training programs for
owned and managed business units within Canada and the United
States. Respected as a human resources advisor, Sue provided
guidance on employee concerns and disciplinary matters in both union
and non union environments and provided advice and guidance on
grievances and collective bargaining. Sue has also served as an
advisory member for the University of Lethbridge, Calgary campus and
has been recognized by the University’s Mentors Program Appreciation
Award.
As Royal

Sue made the
transition from her position as Corporate Executive to Consultant in
the fall of 2010 to provide training/human resources services across
Canada. Sue is also an Executive Leadership Coach working with
Lifestyle Architecture North America Inc.
